Group Va V, Nb, Ta
Group VIa Cr, Mo, W
Group VIIa Mn, Tc, Re
Group VIII Fe, Co, Ni; Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Ir, Pt
Group Ib Cu, Ag, Au
Group IIb Zn, Cd, Hg
Group IIIb Al, Ga, In, Tl
Group IVb Si, Ge, Sn, Pb
Group Vb As, Sb, Bi
Metalloids etc. B, C, P, N, Te, Se, S
A compound or solid solution composed of the elements ABCD is placed under that element, A, B, C, D, which occurs last in the above list. If there are several compounds containing this particular element, they are arranged in the following order:
Compounds containing the same elements in the order of increasing content of the second element.
Compounds of different elements in the order in which the other elements occur in the above list.
For example, Na 2K is described under K, because K comes after Na in the list; MgSr and Mg 2 Sr are both entered under Sr, and are described in that order, in accordance with (a); Li 2Ca and Mg 2Ca are entered under Ca, and described in that order, in accordance with (b).
