FAST Creativity & Innovation: Rapidly Improving Processes, Product Development and Solving Complex Problems

A variety of projects have been analyzed successfully using the questions and logic of FAST. It doesn't seem to matter what type of project you decide to select. FAST allows you to gather a lot of information within a very short amount of time. The project can be software, hardware, or anything else you elect to investigate or analyze. It can be used to develop new designs, improve old products, analyze processes or procedures of any kind, invent new approaches, clarify a problem and pinpoint an area to apply creativity, and even can be used to teach or just learn about a subject. You can even prepare a talk and use it to make sure you have adequately covered the subject. It can be used to establish training procedures or any other type of procedure or to analyze something that already exists or a concept that just exists within your mind. The following two statements demonstrate the variety of projects that have been successfully selected by two companies:
We have undertaken plant layout studies, labor utilization, complete manufacture and packaging of panty hose, procurement systems, inventory control systems, corporate cash flow, invoicing systems, debtors' systems, credit payment systems.

We have applied the FAST diagram technique to over 100 projects. We are also using the FAST approach in our application task forces to develop new designs, improve old products, analyze operational procedures, and invent new approaches.
