This chapter involves a project assigned to a team for the purpose of reducing cost and making improvements to a consumer-type product used in homes and businesses.
Whenever you analyze a product or a piece of equipment which has already been built and is normally sold to a customer, client, or consumer, you should use Method 3 to define your project. Since the project selected for this chapter fits this definition, we proceed as follows.
The project is a three-ton heat pump. The six questions and corresponding answers outlined for Method 3 form the nucleus for starting this project:
