To use Adobe Encore DVD 2.0, you will need:

1. A computer running Microsoft Windows XP, updated to Service Pack 2 or higher.

2. An Intel Pentium 4 processor running at 1.4 GHz or faster.

3. 512 MB or more of RAM.

4. 1 GB of available hard drive space for basic installation and an additional 5 GB of hard disk space for installation of extra content.

5. 1280 1024 or greater color monitor resolution and a 32-bit display adapter.

6. A DVD-ROM drive for installation. Unlike most other programs that have a CD as an installation disc, Adobe Encore DVD 2.0 installs from a DVD.

The critical item for the processor is an ability to support the SSE2 instruction set, which eliminates all Pentium 3 and earlier processors, and all AMD Athlon XP and earlier processors, regardless of speed.

You should consider a system that exceeds the recommended requirements it will make your DVD authoring experience much more enjoyable. It s always a good idea to have as much RAM as you can, but particularly so in this case. With all the new integration-related features of Adobe Encore DVD 2.0, you will most likely want to have Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop or both open at the same time as Encore. To comfortably run Encore and these other applications, you should have at least 1 GB of RAM.
