Project Planning and Scheduling Using Primavera Version 4.1: For Engineering & Construction and Maintenance & Turnaround

Traditionally, planning and scheduling software defines a Resource as something or someone that is required to complete theactivity and sometimes has limited availability. This includes people or groups of people, materials, equipment and money.
Primavera Version 4.1 is able to assign Costs, a Calendar, one or more Roles and somepersonal information to Resources.
Primavera Version 4.1 has a function titled Roles. A Role isnormally used at the planning stage of a project and represents a skill or position. Later, andbefore the activity begins, a role would be filled by assigning a specific individual who would bedefined as a resource. Roles may be assigned to both Resources and Activities. A search by Role maybe conducted on all the Resources when it is required to replace an Activity Assigned Role with anindividual from the Resource pool.
There are a large number of resource functions available in Primavera Version 4.1. Withoutgetting into too much detail, this book will outline the important resource-related functions thatwill enable you to create and assign Roles and Resources to your schedules.
