Wideband Amplifier Design

This technique comes out of network theory. To describe it in detail here would be too much, but I will give a brief overview. For more information, consult any passive-network-synthesis theory book.
Briefly, the technique works as follows. Assume that driving point impedance, Z dp, can be represented by the ratio of two polynomials
. Begin by observing if P( s) or Q( s) is of the higher order. If P( s) is of higher order, then divide P( s) by Q( s) once. The answer will be an impedance in series with the remainder. Take that remainder and divide it into Q( s). The result will now be an admittance in parallel with the remainder. Repeat this until there is nothing remaining to divide. The result will be a ladder network (which may not be realizable with passive components because of the negative elements). If Q( s) is of higher order than P( s), then begin the ladder by dividing P( s) into Q( s) to obtain an admittance as the first element. This technique will now be illustrated in the following equation:
| (2.26) | |
and
Here Q( s) is of higher order, so begin by dividing P( s) into Q( s). This gives
Therefore, the first element is an admittance of value C es. This...
