Before AutoCAD 2000, almost all users of AutoCAD plotted from Model Space, which is the place they made their design in.

But, in AutoCAD 2000, the emergence of the new concept of Layouts made it easy for everybody to shift their attention to the new method, which encompasses lots of new features, and surpasses plotting from Model Space.

Also in AutoCAD 2000, a new feature was introduced called Plot Style, which allowed the user to create color-independent configuration plotting.

No doubt, AutoCAD 2000 was a flagship version in more than one aspect, but the new improvements in plotting process made it the most important.

Model Space is the place where users will create their drawing, with all of the modification process.

When users start thinking about plotting, Paper Space should be the one to use.

There is only one Model Space in each drawing file.

Before AutoCAD 2000, there was only one Paper Space per drawing file.

From AutoCAD 2000 and on (AutoCAD 2000i, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008) the name of Paper Space changed to Layout.

You can create as many layouts as you wish in each drawing file.

Each Layout is connected to Page Setup in which the user should specify a minimum of three things. They are:

• Plotter you will send the drawing to.

• Paper size you will use.

• Paper orientation (Portrait or Landscape).
