Computerized Work Management Systems for Utility and Plant Operations

Integration of the CWMS modules into other technology solutions is fast becoming a necessity in most operations today. The need for an integrated solution is discussed in this chapter. The concept of the system development life cycle (SDLC) (Figure 6.1) is developed as a means to effectively manage an integrated technology solution. All possible interfaces to other applications are listed and the requirements are defined. In particular, the interfaces to a financial system are discussed in detail because of the critical importance of this link. The chapter is then rounded off with a discussion on the various techniques and methodologies that are used in integration and interface development today.
