IC Mask Design: Essential Layout Techniques

Following are items that didn't make it into the regular section of the books for some reason. Just a little "Behind The Scenes" for your enjoyment.
All these outtakes are for real. Judy
This picture is from the Wafer Processing chapter of the first book, IC Layout Basics: A Practical Guide. It shows that masks cast shadows. You know, like doing hand shadow puppets on the wall. However, this illustration was bumped out of the book. It was replaced with a more mundane series of alphabet letters, ABC. (If you read the book you will see that I complained about not being able to use this illustration.) So, here it is. The duckie picture.

I saved this because instead of scribbling out an error, Chris left it, wrote the word "mistake" and drew a line to it.Chris doesn't know why I think labeling it is funny. He says, "Well, how else would you know where the mistakes are?" which just makes me laugh even harder. This was drawn for the Standard Cell Techniques chapter, by the way. I was tempted to include the extra line in the chapter illustration, with the label, of course. But I didn't.
