Mastering AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008

So you've toiled for days, weeks, and maybe months creating your design in Civil 3D and now it's time to share it with the world or at least your corner of it. Even in this digital age, paper plan sets still play an important role. You generate these plans in Civil 3D using the Plan Production feature. In this chapter, we'll examine the steps necessary to create a set of sheets, from initial setup, to framing and generating sheets, to data management and plotting.
In this chapter, you'll learn to:
Create view frames
Create sheets and use Sheet Set Manager
Edit sheet templates and styles associated with plan production
Before you start generating all sorts of wonderful plan sets, there are a few concepts and prerequisites you must address first. Civil 3D takes advantage of several features and components to build a plan set. Some of these components have existed in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for years, such as layout tabs, drawing templates, alignments, and profiles. Others are new properties of existing features, like Plan or Profile viewport types. Still others are entirely new objects, including view frames, match lines, and view frame groups. Let's look at what you need to have in place before you can create your plotted masterpieces.
The plan production feature draws upon several components to create a plan set. Here is a list of these components and a brief explanation of each. Later in this chapter, we'll explore...
