Spread Spectrum CDMA: IS-95 and IS-2000 for RF Communications

The following is a brief description of the RF channel allocations used in the United States for cellular and PCS two-way communications. Since AMPS was the first format deployed (in the US), the CDMA channel allocations in the cellular band are often stated in terms of AMPS channel numbers (i.e., one CDMA channel = 1.25 MHz, or 41 AMPS channels at 30kHz each). PCS spectral allotments, on the other hand, were partitioned well after the proliferation of wireless technology formats (CDMA, TDMA, GSM) in response to the dramatic increase in demand for consumer-based telecommunications spectrum. Hence these are only stated in terms of MHz.
