9.13.4 Other Diode Laser Packaging

As visible diode lasers have come to replace helium neon lasers in applications that require visible light, the diodes have been packaged with optics that focus the light to produce a tightly focused beam. Examples are laser pointers and supermarket scanners, which require highly directional beams. The user sees a small packaged laser that emits a red beam and functions much like a much larger and more expensive helium neon laser.

Products & Services
Lasers are devices that produce intense beams of monochromatic, coherent radiation. The word "laser" is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Search by Specification | Learn more about Lasers
Helium neon (HeNe) lasers have an emission that is determined by neon atoms by virtue of a resonant transfer of excitation of helium. They operate continuously in the red, infrared and far-infrared regions and emit highly monochromatic radiation. Search by Specification | Learn more about Helium Neon Lasers
Laser mounts are devices that keep a laser in position on a optical table. Learn more about Laser Mounts
Fiber optic amplifiers re-amplify an attenuated signal without converting the signal into electrical form. Search by Specification | Learn more about Fiber Optic Amplifiers
Diode lasers use light-emitting diodes to produce stimulated emissions in the form of coherent light output. They are also known as laser diodes. Search by Specification | Learn more about Diode Lasers
