Vegas Editing Workshop, Second Edition

FX Packaging

Creating FX chains is an important aspect in Vegas. Often, presets in FX are simply not enough to recall. If multiple FX chained together with specific presets are needed, Vegas can save a chain of FX with presets. For instance, an EQ, a compressor, and a chorus can be used for vocal processing with each of the individual FX having their own presets. Rather than having to insert and choose presets for each effect manually, all three can be saved as a chain/package complete with presets.

To create a package, perform the following steps:

  1. Click the Insert FX button in the Bus, Mixer, or Track Control windows, which opens the Plug-In Chooser.

  2. Choose the plug-ins you wish to use.

  3. Arrange them in any manner by either dragging a plug-in before another or by using the Shift Plug-In Left/Right buttons found in the upper-right corner.

  4. Click the Save As button and name the chain, which will now be stored as a package in the Plug-In Packages folder.

  5. Click OK. Your preset is now stored and can be recalled at any time.

Find these files in the C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas 5\Presets\FX Packages. Subfolders...
