Leadership Training

Chapter 9: Follow-Up Work Action Planning

Overview

Your leadership workshop will be just the beginning of each attendee s journey to growing his or her own leadership capacity. Many of the participants will have taken more than 30 years to develop the leadership strengths and weaknesses they currently have, so it is not likely that they will be fixed , even by a workshop as long as two days. Consider the learning event itself as part of the complete solution. The complete solution contains

  • an expert learning facilitator with great content (Chapters 1 and 2, 5 8)

  • effective roles, logistics and planning (Chapter 1)

  • advance work and assessment (Chapter 4)

  • evaluation (Chapter 4)

  • follow-up action planning (this chapter).

When you are choosing which depth of leadership event to offer to a group, fight for the involvement of their management team. Creating an Action Plan will not help much if there is no incentive to complete it. Your participants must be clear that their leadership development is not only important to them, but also to their management. This chapter will explore how management can be involved...
