Chapter 7: One-Day Programme

Overview

The one-day noncustomized version of the leadership workshop is designed to expose people to the Self-Alignment competencies and then give them more depth in Coaching and Communication, two common gaps in leadership abilities. In the customized one-day version, you choose which competencies to cover in the afternoon, based on pre-session assessments.

In both the customized and noncustomized versions of the one-day workshop, the first half-day exactly duplicates the half-day noncustomized version described in the preceding chapter. The difference occurs in the afternoon. If you are able to have the learners use the list of competencies in Assessment 11 1 (Chapter 11, page 167) for a 360-degree assessment, and can have the results from this a bit ahead of time, you will choose the two lowest competencies of the entire group for the afternoon s focus. There will be more detail on this approach at the end of this chapter. If you are not able to do 360-degree assessments in advance, use the teaching notes and the noncustomized version below. Based on our research and teaching experiences, Communication and Developing Others (feedback and coaching) are generally the competencies with which most people need some help, so those competencies are in this version.

The first half-day duplicates the material from the half-day version, which includes introducing participants to the competencies of Self-Alignment: Self-Understanding and Resiliency.
