one blank sheet of paper for each participant
Clock 20 minutes
Explain that this is a drawing exercise. Ask each person to take the blank piece of paper and divide it into quadrants. Some will groan that they can t draw. Tell them that they re going to draw four things, one at a time, and that you ll allow 15 seconds for each drawing. Have the group prepare to draw in the quadrant on the upper right. When everyone is ready, with your eye on the clock, ask them to draw a house. Keep time. When time s up move to quadrant two, on the lower right. Ask them to draw with their other hand (righties use their left and vice versa). When they are ready, give them 15 seconds to draw a cat. When time s up tell them to switch writing implements back to the preferred hand and move to quadrant three. Tell them to draw a flower with their eyes closed. When time s up tell the participants close their eyes and use their other hand to draw a tree.
When the drawings are complete, ask someone to reflect on how his or her attitude changed through this exercise how he or she was feeling and thinking about the various drawings. Differentiate between product and process: they were focusing...
