H.225 call signaling is used to set up connections between H.323 endpoints (terminals and gateways), over which the real-time data can be transported. Call signaling involves the exchange of H.225 protocol messages over a reliable call-signaling channel. For example, H.225 protocol messages are carried over TCP in an IP based H.323 network.
The H.235 standard defines security procedures used for packet based communication systems that includes authentication, data integrity, privacy, and non-repudiation processes. Authentication is a mechanism to make sure that the endpoints participating in the conference are really who they say they are. Integrity provides a means to validate that the data within a packet is indeed an unchanged representation of the data. Privacy/Confidentiality is provided by encryption and decryption mechanisms that hide the data from eavesdroppers so that if it is intercepted, it cannot be viewed. Non-Repudiation is a means of protection against someone denying that they participated in a conference when you know they were there. These security hooks are introduced in H.323 Version 2.
A signaling control protocol that contains a library of transmission control messages for use in packet based multimedia communication systems.
