NAM Burner
A machine that stores ( burns ) information into a number assignment module (NAM) chip. NAM chips were similar to subscriber identity modules (SIM) and were used in older analog AMPS phones.
Name Discovery
(1-general) A procedure that provides the initiating device with the device name of other connectable devices. (2-Bluetooth) The process of identifying other devices located nearby in a Bluetooth system. These Bluetooth devices within range that will usually respond to paging and requests for name identification information using service discovery protocol (SDP).
Name Resolution
A process of translating a text based name into a numeric address, such as Internet Protocol (IP) address. See domain name server (DNS).
