General Cast-in-Place Costs
Substructure: $150 to $400/CY (40% M and 60% L)
Superstructure: $500 to $1100/CY (30%M and 70%L)
Concrete: Consists of (using the general 1-2-3 mix. 1 part cement, 2 parts sand, and 3 parts rock, plus water):
Portland cement
Type I: Normal for general construction.
Type II: Modified for a lower heat of hydration, for large structures or warm weather.
Type III: Modified for high, early strength, where forms must be removed as soon as passible, such as high-rise construction or cold weather.
Type IV: Modified for low heat for very large structures.
Type V: Modified for sulfate resistance.
Types IA, IIA, or IIIA: Air-entrained to resist frost.
Fine aggregate (sand): ? or smaller.
Course aggregate (rock and gravel): ? to 2 ?.
Clean water: Just enough to permit ready working of mix into forms. Mix should not slide or run off a shovel. Major factor effecting strength and durability is the water-cement ratio, expressed as gallons of water per sack of cement (usually ranging from 5 to 8). Slump is a measure of this:
