The Basic Oscilloscope

The particular model of oscilloscope being referred to here is Model OS-5020, made by the LG Precision Co., Ltd., of Seoul, Korea, with offices also in Cerritos, CA, USA. Other scopes have similar controls, but some details of the following instructions might differ slightly with various models.

Usually a separable power cord must be plugged into the back of the scope, and then the other end goes into a 120V ac wall socket. A switch marked "Power" is turned on. (On some new equipment, the switch is marked with a circle having a vertical line inside it, which signifies "one or zero," in other words, "on or off.")
