Hand tight:
Meaning in terms of threaded fasteners that it can be easily threaded by hand until all available mechanical slack is eliminated and will go no tighter without leverage. Could be termed snug, but not torqued .
Helical gears:

But the hold-down bolts are meant to be understood not cheap , or be lesser than the grade five category. These bolts have to restrain motors with awesome power and they have to be of good quality. Considering the service these bolts perform, they must have high tensile strength and shear-resistant qualities.
