Applications

Advantages over other Optical Mirrors
Reflector optical mirrors offer several advantages over other types of mirrors. Metallic mirrors, for instance, provide high reflectivity over a broad spectral range, making them suitable for applications requiring broadband light deflection. They are also cost-effective due to their simple construction. Limitations
Reflector optical mirrors have some limitations. Metallic mirrors, while cost-effective, are susceptible to aging and oxidation, which can affect their performance over time. They also have inherent absorption losses and lower laser-induced damage thresholds (LIDT), which can limit their use in high-power applications. Additionally, they may perform poorly in some ultraviolet (UV) wavelength ranges when protective overcoats are used.
Considerations
When selecting reflector optical mirrors, several factors should be considered. Initial costs can vary depending on the type of mirror and its coating. Operating expenses may include maintenance and replacement costs, especially for mirrors prone to oxidation or damage.
