Planning Using Primavera SureTrak Project Manager Version 3.0 Revised 2006

You have completed the plan or have completed sufficient iterations to have an acceptable plan, and the project is progressing. Now the important process of regular monitoring begins. Monitoring is important to help catch problems as early as possible, and thus to help minimize the impact of the problem on the successful completion of the project.
The main steps for monitoring progress are:
Setting the Target dates these are the dates against which progress is compared
Record or mark-up progress
Set the Link remaining duration and schedule percent complete option, so the software calculates the desired way
Update or status the schedule
Compare and report actual progress against planned progress and revise the schedule if required.
There are two main methods of updating a schedule:
Use the Update Progress function that may be used in conjunction with the Progress Spotlight function. This will move the Data Date forward to the new date and progress some or all of the activities as if they have progressed exactly according to schedule. This is useful for projects that are progressing close to plan.
Update the activities using the Activity form, columns or Update Activity form and then move the Data Date by scheduling the project.
Setting the Target copies the planned start and planned finish dates into fields titled Target Start and Target Finish. Once the Target dates are set the progress may be compared with the original plan. You will be able to see...
