Description

DC Voltage Input Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs) are devices that convert a continuous analog voltage signal into a discrete digital number. This digital output can then be processed by digital systems such as microcontrollers, computers, or digital signal processors. The primary function of these converters is to translate the analog measurements into a digital format that can be easily manipulated and analyzed by digital systems.

Working Principle

DC Voltage Input ADCs operate by sampling the analog input voltage at regular intervals and converting these samples into digital values. The conversion process involves quantizing the input voltage into discrete levels and encoding these levels into binary numbers. The ADC typically uses a reference voltage to determine the range of input voltages it can convert. The resolution of the ADC, determined by the number of bits, dictates the precision of the conversion. For example, a 12-bit ADC can represent the analog input with 4096 discrete levels.
