From Dictionary of Energy

solar gain sovereignty

solar gain

Solar. the amount of energy that a building absorbs due to solar energy striking its exterior and conducting to the interior, or by passing through windows and being absorbed by materials in the building.

solar greenhouse

Solar. a greenhouse that requires minimal use of supplemental energy because it is designed and built to make maximum use of solar energy for both heating and lighting.

solar heat gain

solar heat pump

Solar. a system that combines the use of a solar energy system with a heat pump, to increase the efficiency of both; e.g., the lesser amount of heat collected by a solar system in winter may be too low in itself for use in direct heating but can be used as a source for a heat pump instead.

solar home system (SHS)

Solar. a standalone electrical power supply system for single buildings by means of solar energy, typically used to operate small appliances in rural areas without electrification.

solar hot box

Solar. a wooden box with a clear glass top that allows solar radiation in, and a black inner lining that absorbs this radiation and converts it to heat. A precursor to modern solar thermal collectors, used to heat food and water.

solar hour angle

Solar. the angle at which the earth must turn...

Products & Services
Solar Water Heaters
Solar water heaters concentrate the sun’s thermal energy to heat water for industrial, commercial, and residential use. There are two main types of products: active and passive.
Photovoltaic (PV) and Solar Power Systems
Solar power systems convert light into electricity. They are the building blocks of photovoltaic (PV) modules.
Solar Radiation Instruments
Solar radiation instruments measure the spectral range of radiation, including global solar radiation (sun + sky), net radiation (incoming solar - reflected solar) and the photosynthetic light spectrum.
Alternative Energy Installation Services
Alternative energy installation services specify and install photovoltaic, wind energy, and other distributed energy production systems for commercial and residential applications.
Solar Mounts
Solar mounts are used to mount photovoltaic (PV), solar water heaters, or other solar collection devices. They hold solar panels in position and are either fixed or tracking.
