Harnessing AutoCAD 2007

Introduction

HARNESSING THE POWER OF AUTOCAD 2007

The key phrase in AutoCAD 2007 is "Easy 3D." Solid primitives such as a box, cone, cylinder, sphere, pyramid, and so on are now much easier to create. The steps that determine the locations and dimensions of things like the base diameter and height of a cone are much more Intuitive. Likewise, the length, width, and height of a box can be specified by just dragging the cursor on the screen and selecting the appropriate points.

Objects can now be created on any planar face of a 3D solid without manually changing the UCS. by activating the dynamic UCS within a command. Then move the cursor over a planar face, and the UCS will temporarily align with the face until the command in progress is completed.

AutoCAD 2007 now has a dedicated new Dashboard (a special tool palette) designed for accessing the 3D Modeling and Rendering commands and features. There is a new grid that supports perspective to enhance viewing of your 3D model.

Harnessing AutoCAD 2007 brings you comprehensive descriptions, explanations, and examples of the basics of AutoCAD 2007 and its new innovations. It has been written to be used both in the classroom as a textbook, and in industry by the professional CADD designer/drafter as a reference and learning tool. Early chapters point out with explanations and examples how the new "Easy 3D" innovations have been implemented in AutoCAD 2007. Whether you're new to
