Harnessing AutoCAD 2007

This section describes how to perform various 3D editing operations, such as aligning, rotating, mirroring, arraying, extending, and trimming.
The ALIGN command allows you to translate and rotate objects in 3D space regardless of the position of the current UCS. Three source points and three destination points define the move. The ALIGN command lets you select the objects to move, and then subsequently prompts for three source points and three destination points.
Invoke the ALIGN command by selecting Align from the 3D Operation submenu in the Modify menu and AutoCAD prompts:
<b class="bold">align</b>Select objects: <i class="emphasis">(select the objects)</i>
Select the objects to move and press ENTER. AutoCAD then prompts for three source points and three destination points. Temporary lines are displayed between the matching pairs of source and destination points. If you enter all six points, the move consists of a translation and two rotations based on the six points. The translation moves the 1st source point to the 1st destination point. The first rotation aligns the line defined by the 1st and 2nd source points with the line defined by the 1st and 2nd destination points. The second rotation aligns the plane defined by the three source points with the plane defined by the three destination points.
If instead of entering three pairs of points, you enter two pairs of points, the transformation reduces to a translation from the 1st source point to the 1st destination point and a rotation such that...
