Mastering Autodesk VIZ 2005 focuses on the tools you'll need to create presentations of your designs. There are a few tools that you'll want to know about that weren't discussed in the main part of the book.
Helpers are nonrendering objects that can assist you in creating your model. Some helpers are designed specifically for animation, while others help you take measurements in your design. Another set of helpers gives you control over the effects tools.
Effects are tools you can use to add a dramatic touch to your final renderings. For example, you can add film grain if your rendering is to be matched to a grainy background, or you can add a lens flare. You can also add atmospheric effects such as fog or smoke and light from a fire or explosion.
This appendix is intended to give you general information about the helpers and effects and to show you what types of features are available.
