Rendering with MicroStation

Chapter 12: Generating Output

This chapter teaches you how to save images to disk and how to use multiple networked systems to render a single high-resolution image to disk. You will see how to save Virtual Reality (VR) panorama images, as well as Image Objects, or IMOBs. You also will learn how to create scripts for batch rendering using Save Image Multiple. This routine lets you save image files, including panoramas, from several DGN files and multiple views, using rendering setups and saved views.

You will learn how to add 3D content to an Adobe PDF file by enabling Plot to 3D in the Print dialog box.

Saving Images to Disk

While much of your visualization work will be rendered and displayed on the computer screen, MicroStation supports many different image file formats for saving to disk. The rendering engine lets you save your image to any of the supported raster file types. Saving images to disk in this way lets you quickly recall them later for viewing or printing. This saves minutes, or even hours, that could be spent waiting for an anti- alias ray traced image to appear on the screen.
