Chapter 3: Advanced Wall Features

INTRODUCTION

Autodesk Architectural Desktop provides additional tools to enhance the creation of walls that consist of multiple wall components. The use of wall styles, wall groups, wall endcaps, wall surface modifiers and body modifiers increases the speed of design and the detail of wall representation.

OBJECTIVES

After completing this chapter, you will be able to

  • Create and modify a wall style.

  • Change the style of a wall.

  • Control the display properties of wall components to include materials.

  • Create wall endcap styles, wall modifier styles and body modifiers to modify the properties of walls.

  • Use Edit In Place to edit wall endcaps, wall modifiers and body modifiers.

  • Use the Project Navigator to develop additional floor plans and a foundation plan.

ACCESSING WALL STYLES

Although the Standard wall style may be adequate in many design applications, it consists of only two wall lines. Other wall styles can be used to create wall representations for complex walls that consist of several wall components. Wall styles allow the designer to create a wall style for each wall type. Wall styles created in the drawing are listed in the Style drop-down list of the Properties palette shown in Figure 3.2. Other defined wall styles can be selected from the Walls tool palette as shown in Figure 3.1. Additional styles can be i-dropped into the drawing or onto tool palettes from the Walls category of the Design Tool Catalog - Imperial or Design Tool Catalog - Metric as shown in Figure 3.1.
