Accessing Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2007

The development of drawings for commercial building requires the insertion of structural grids and ceiling grids. Layout curves can be developed to insert columns or other AEC objects spaced uniformly along a layout curve. Structural grids, layout curves and ceiling grids are presented in this chapter. In addition, the development of views and walkthroughs using a camera is presented.
Upon completion of this chapter, you will be able to
Create column, beam and brace styles structural member styles.
Create and edit structural frames and column grids with structural members.
Add, move, remove, mask and clip column grid lines.
Label and dimension a column grid.
Use the LayoutCurveAdd command to place columns and other AEC objects symmetrically along a layout curve.
Place a camera in the drawing using the Camera command.
Create a video of animations.
Structural members including steel, concrete and wood shapes can be inserted in a drawing as columns, beams and braces. The components of the structural frame-work are inserted as 3D objects but can be viewed from the top view to create 2D plan views. Lines, arcs, or polylines can be converted to structural shapes by extruding structural shapes along the geometry. Structural components are object styles created from the Structural Member Catalog. The style extracts the dimension and shape properties of the component from the catalog and you assign a name. Custom shapes can be created and applied to structural member styles. Two structural components can be combined...
