Plug / Insert Shape or Application:      Plugs come in a variety of different cross sections.  The most common sections are described below.
   Your choices are...
Round       These caps and plugs have a round cross section.
Button Plug       Button plugs snap or lock into place.  These are also referred to as hole plugs and are used for covering holes in sheet metal.
Square       These caps and plugs have a square cross section.
Rectangular       These caps and plugs have a rectangular cross section.
Drum Bung Plug       Drum plugs are used to close off the bunghole of a drum or other container.
Screw Plug       These plugs are specifically designed for plugging the socket in a screw head.
Other       Unlisted, specialized, or proprietary configuration.
Search Logic:      All products with ANY of the selected attributes will be returned as matches. Leaving all boxes unchecked will not limit the search criteria for this question; products with all attribute options will be returned as matches.
Threaded?       These caps or plugs are threaded.  These caps have a female thread.  The thread can be straight or tapered (NPT).  Caps have a female thread and plugs have a male thread.
Search Logic:      "Required" and "Must Not Have" criteria limit returned matches as specified. Products with optional attributes will be returned for either choice.
Tapered?       These caps and plugs have tapered sides, providing a snug fit.  Some can be used as either a cap or a plug.  Tapered caps and plugs are versatile and can be used for straight tubes and bars, male and female NPT threads, and male straight threads.

Fits Diameter:       This dimension applies to round caps and plugs only.  For straight threads enter the major thread diameter (for example: enter .25 for a ¼ straight thread).  Do not use where cap/plug or object being capped/plugged has a tapered (NPT or BSP) thread.
Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
   Round Plug Features:
   Your choices are...
Flange       These caps and plugs offer a flange for easy removal or additional protection of bearing surfaces.  They also prevent accidentally pushing the plug all of the way through the opening.
Knurled or Faceted Head       Usually found on threaded caps and plugs only, knurls or facets allow easier installation and removal, either by finger or wrench.
Slotted Head       Slotted caps and plugs can be installed or removed with a screwdriver.
Recessed Socket       These plugs have a recessed socket for assembly with a wrench.
Search Logic:      All products with ANY of the selected attributes will be returned as matches. Leaving all boxes unchecked will not limit the search criteria for this question; products with all attribute options will be returned as matches.

Square or Rectangular Plug Dimensions These dimensions apply to square or rectangular plugs only.
Width:       The width is the smaller cross sectional dimension for rectangular caps or plugs.  If the section is a square, the width and length are the same dimension.
Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
Length:       The length is the larger cross sectional dimension for rectangular caps or plugs.  If the section is a square, the width and length are the same dimension.
Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.

Material
   Material
   Your choices are...
Aluminum       A bluish silver-white malleable ductile light trivalent metallic element that has good electrical and thermal conductivity, high reflectivity, and resistance to oxidation.
Delrin®       Delrin® refers to a class of acetal homopolymers from DuPont. They offer high tensile strength, impact resistance and stiffness, and outstanding fatigue endurance. They are resistant to moisture, gasoline, solvents, and many other neutral chemicals. They offer dimensional stability and good electrical insulating characteristics. Delrin is resilient and resists creep. It is also maintains natural lubricity at a wide end-use temperature range. The main property limitations are repeated use in steam or hot water, and exposure to strong acids or bases outside the pH range of 4-9.
EVA       Ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA) is a transparent thermoplastic elastomer. It remains flexible at low temperatures and resists cracking. Brand names include: Ultrathene® (Quantum), Elvax® (DuPont), Evalca® (Eval).
Fiber / Cork / Wood       Fiber, cork, or wood plugs expand when wet to seal the tube.
Monel®       Monel® alloy has high strength and resistance to a range of corrosive media including seawater, hydrofluoric and sulfuric acids, and alkalis.
Nylon / Polyamide       Nylon, comprising several grades of polyamides, is a general purpose material in wide use; it is tough and resistant and has good pressure ratings.
Paper       Paper caps are frequently used for high-temperature applications that may degrade plastic caps or plugs.
Polyetheretherketone (PEEK)       PEEK is a high temperature resistant engineered thermoplastic. It has excellent chemical and fatigue resistance, and thermal stability. PEEK has superior chemical resistance, is inert to all common solvents and resists a wide range of organic and inorganic liquids. PEEK has a maximum continuous working temperature of 480°F and retains its mechanical properties up to 570°F in steam or high-pressure applications.
Polyethylene (PE)       A semi-crystalline (typically around 50%), whitish, semi-opaque commodity thermoplastic that is soft, flexible and tough - even at low temperatures - with outstanding electrical properties but poor temperature resistance. It also has very good chemical resistance but is prone to environmental stress cracking; it has poor UV resistance (unless modified) and poor barrier properties, except to water.
Polypropylene (PP)       Polypropylene is a thermoplastic material exhibiting excellent cold flow, bi-axial strength, and yield elongation properties. It is similar to PVC but can be used in exposed applications because of its resistance to UV, weathering, and ozone.
Rubber - Silicone       Silicones are polymers in which organics groups, such as methyl and phenyl groups are bonded to the silicone atoms in chains of inorganic siloxanes (-Si-O-Si-). Their properties include heat, cold and weather resistance, electrical insulation, release, water repellency and defoaming.
Rubber - Styrene Butadiene (SBR)       Good resistance to petroleum hydrocarbons and fuels. Widely used with most oils, hydraulic fluids, alcohol. Many compound variations are available for specific applications. Suggested operating temperature (-30° to 275° F)
Steel - Stainless       Stainless steel is chemical and corrosion resistant and can have relatively high pressure ratings.
Vinyl       Vinyl exhibits good flexibility and chemical resistance; it is used in many medical and chemical applications.
Other       Unlisted, specialized, or proprietary material.

Additional Features
Cap has Lift / Pull Tab or Ring or is a Pull Plug?       Cap has a tab or ring for easy removal or plug is of pull plug construction. Pull plugs are designed for "through-hole" applications. They use a smaller diameter "pull section" to pull the plug until it is snug in the hole.
Search Logic:      "Required" and "Must Not Have" criteria limit returned matches as specified. Products with optional attributes will be returned for either choice.
Ribbed?       Ribs are found on plugs only. The ribs are on the mating part of the plug and help to provide a secure fit inside a tube. Ribs are available on round, square, and rectangular plugs.
Search Logic:      "Required" and "Must Not Have" criteria limit returned matches as specified. Products with optional attributes will be returned for either choice.
Vented?       Plug or cap is vented. Vented caps are commonly used in the medial industry. The vent allows air flow during gas sterilization and prevents the cap from blowing off during extreme heat conditions.
Search Logic:      "Required" and "Must Not Have" criteria limit returned matches as specified. Products with optional attributes will be returned for either choice.
