3 1 Chapter Objectives

After completing this chapter you will be able to:

  1. Explain how to delete and undelete existing geometrc entities.

  2. Know how to shorten or extend an existing geometric entity to its intersection (s) with another entity or entities via the Trim functions

  3. State the use of the Join function for joining separate entities into a single entity.

  4. Explain how to break an existing geometric entity into separate entities via Break.

  5. State the uses of the Xform function for translating, mirroring, rotating, scaling, offseting, arraying and dragging existing geometric entities.

  6. State the uses of the Xform function for creating copies of existing entities by translating, mirroring, rotating, scaling, offseting, arraying and dragging.

3 2 Deleting/Undeleting Entities

THE DELETE/UNDELETE FUNCTIONS

On the CD The Delete function enables the operator to permanently remove selected entities from the graphics window display and the Mastercam X2 part file.

The General Selection ribbon bar contains several functions to make the job of identifying the entities to be deleted quick and efficient.

The Undelete function is used to restore entities that have just been deleted accidentally via Delete. The Undo function can also be used for this purpose.

The Delete Duplicates function directs Mastercam to automatically find and delete duplicate entities in the current file. Duplicate entities should be deleted since they unnecessarily increase the size of your part file and lead to errors when chaining is
