Control Valves

Chapter 10.15 - Control Valve Features: Packing Lubricator and Isolation Valves

Packing used in oxygen service or in processes carrying flammable mediums should never be lubricated. This is also true for high temperature applications (over 500F)
.

Packing Lubricator and Isolation Valves

The packing lubricator is a mechanism for injection of lubricant/sealer into a lubricator packing box. The lubricant used must be good quality silicon based. The lubricator is operated by simply turning the cap screw clockwise to force lubricant into the packing box. The isolating valve operates the same way, except that it must first be opened and then closed after lubrication is completed. Note that most packings do not require lubrication.
