Hinge Type
   Hinge Type
   Your choices are...
Butt Hinge       A hinge composed of two plates attached to abutting surfaces of a door and cabinet and joined by a pin.  Both leaves of the hinge are mortised (cut) into the edge of a door and frame.
Half-mortised Hinge       A half-mortised hinge is a butt hinge where only one of the leaves is mortised (cut) into the door and frame.
Torque Friction Hinges       Hold doors open and closed at pre-set, detent positions without secondary mechanical supports.  Adjust (dampen) the door swing to your specifications.  Models may include constant torque friction hinges and adjustable torque friction hinges.
Concealed Hinge       This refers to any hinge that does not show from the outside of the cabinet.  Concealed hinges offer a smooth, unbroken cabinet surface.  The radius of the moveable leaf swings the door out and clear of the cabinet frame.
Continuous Hinge / Piano Hinge       A hinge composed of two continuous leaves of material.
Knife Hinge       Shaped like scissors. One half of hinge mounts to top edge (or bottom edge) of door. Other half mounts to horizontal cabinet member directly above (and below) door.
Latch Hinge       Latch hinges make excellent lid or door latches, or easily removable hinges.
Overlay Hinge       Overlay hinges are used for a door which sits in front of the cabinet and covers or overlays a portion of the cabinet or face frame.
Pin Hinge       A hinge that pivots on a single point. Offers a very low profile, as only the pivoting knuckle is visible from the outside of the cabinet.
Quick Release Hinge       Quick release hinges are used to easily remove a door, can be mounted in any position, and require no tools.
Slip Joint / Flag Hinge       Slip joint hinges offer quick, easy, and economical door removals.  A concealed type hinge where the two parts of the hinge are fastened together by slipping one half on the other and then tightening a screw.  These hinges may also be referred to as lift-off hinges.
Spring Hinges       Spring hinges allow doors to close automatically or be held in the open or closed position.
Spring Pivot       A spring pivot is a spring hinge mortised into the heel of a door and fastened to the floor and head with pivots.
Stop Hinge, Inside       Inside stop hinges normally operate from the 0° or closed position towards the open position, stopping at 90°.  Some manufacturers may furnish special stop angles.
Stop Hinge, Outside       Outside stop hinges normally operate from the 180° or flat, open position, towards the closed position, stopping at 90°.  Some manufacturers may furnish special stop angles.
Strap Hinge       The strap hinge consists of two unequal hinge leaves where one leaf is longer and narrower than the other. The typical three-knuckle hinge is comprised of a larger center knuckle and equal and knuckles. The larger leaf will offer more of a mounting surface. Strap hinges are usually manufactured in heavier gauges with standard hole placements.
Weld-on Hinge       Hinges that require welding to be mounted.
Other       Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary hinge type.

Unequal Leaves       The two leaves of the hinge are of unequal widths.  Unequal leaves on lighter hinges should have a total width equal to a standard width.
Search Logic:      "Required" and "Must Not Have" criteria limit returned matches as specified. Products with optional attributes will be returned for either choice.
MIL-SPEC       Hinges built to military specifications.
Search Logic:      "Required" and "Must Not Have" criteria limit returned matches as specified. Products with optional attributes will be returned for either choice.
Hinge Direction (Only if applicable.)      Hinge direction is typically only applicable to latch, quick release, and slip joint or flag hinges.
   Your choices are...
Reversible       The hinge direction can be left hand or right hand depending on application.
Left Hand Only       From the outside, if the hinges are on the left and the door opens in, it's a left hand door.
Right Hand Only       From the outside, if the hinges are on the right and the door opens in, it's a right hand door.

Physical Specifications
Leaf Thickness       The leaf is that portion of the hinge extending laterally from the knuckle, which generally revolves around the pin.  This is often referred to as leaf gauge.
Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
Length       The length of the leaves measured parallel to the pin.
Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
Pin Diameter       The pin is the rod running the length of the hinge. The pin holds the leaves of the hinge together.
Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
Knuckle Length       The typical dimension of the knuckle measured parallel to the pin.  The hollow circular part at the knuckle of a hinge through which a pin is passed. (Sometimes called loop, joint, node or curl.)
Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
Open Width       The overall dimension of the leaves measured perpendicular, or across, the pin.

   Hole Type
   Your choices are...
No Holes       The hinge is supplied without holes and requires other mounting.
Round       The hinge is supplied with round mounting holes.
Square       The hinge is supplied with square mounting holes.
Rectangular or Oval Slots       The hinge is supplied with rectangular or oval slots.
Other       Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary hole type.

Construction Materials
   Leaf Material
   Your choices are...
Aluminum       Aluminum is a bluish silver-white malleable ductile light trivalent metallic element that has good electrical and thermal conductivity, high reflectivity, and resistance to oxidation.
Brass       Brass comes with good strength, excellent high temperature ductility and reasonable cold ductility, good conductivity, excellent corrosion resistance, good bearing properties and low magnetic permeability.
Iron       Iron is a heavy malleable ductile magnetic silver-white metallic element.
Steel       Steel is a commercial iron that contains carbon in any amount up to about 1.7 percent as an essential alloying constituent. It is malleable when under suitable conditions, and is distinguished from cast iron by its malleability and lower carbon content.
Stainless Steel       Stainless steel is chemical and corrosion resistant and can have relatively high-pressure ratings.
Plastic       Plastic is any of numerous organic, synthetic, or processed materials that are mostly thermoplastic or thermosetting polymers of high molecular weight and that can be made into objects, films, or filaments.
Other       Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary leaf material.
