Sine/Cosine Motor Controllers are devices used to control the operation of motors by generating sinusoidal and cosinusoidal signals. These controllers modulate the current supplied to the motor phases to produce smooth and precise motion.

Working Principle

Sine/Cosine Motor Controllers operate by generating sinusoidal waveforms that are used to drive the motor phases. The 360-degree current phase shift of the three phases is modulated in a sinusoidal pattern, resulting in smooth and constant force from the motor . This method of commutation, known as sinusoidal commutation, ensures that the motor produces a constant torque by exciting the motor with three-phase sinusoidal currents in the proper relationship to the back EMF at every rotor position . This smooth operation is particularly useful for applications requiring precise constant velocity and smooth motion.
