Exercise Workbook for Beginning AutoCAD 2007

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
Move the Origin.
Turn the UCS Icon On and Off.
Command the UCS Icon to move with the Origin.
As previously stated in Lesson 9, the ORIGIN is where the X, Y, and Z axes intersect. The Origin s (0,0,0) default location is in the lower left-hand corner of the drawing. But you can move the Origin anywhere on the screen using the UCS command.
(The default location is designated as the World option or WCS. When it is moved it is UCS, User Coordinate System. )
You may move the Origin many times while creating a drawing. This is not difficult and will make it much easier to draw objects in specific locations. You will understand this better after completing 10A, 10B and 10C.
To MOVE the Origin:
Select one of following:
TYPING = none
PULLDOWNS = TOOLS / New UCS / Origin
UCS II TOOLBAR = ![]()
Command: _ucs
Current ucs name: *World*
Specify origin of UCS or [Face/NAmed/OBject/Previous/View/World/X/Y/Z/ZAxis]
Specify new origin point <0,0,0>: type coordinate or use the cursor to place.
To RETURN the Origin to the default World location (the lower left corner):
Select one of the following:
TYPING = UCS
PULLDOWNS = TOOLS / New UCS / World
UCS TOOLBAR = ![]()
The UCS icon is merely a drawing aid. You control how it is displayed.
It can be...
