Working Principle

Applications
These vacuum pumps are widely used in chemical and pharmaceutical processes. Specific examples include steam jet ejector systems that utilize the venturi effect to draw a vacuum and liquid ring vacuum pumps that use water as a sealant . They are also employed in processes where maintaining low temperatures is crucial to prevent unwanted reactions and facilitate the condensation of vapors, which can enhance the nominal pumping speed .
Advantages over other Vacuum Pumps and Vacuum Generators
One significant advantage of these pumps is their ability to operate at relatively low temperatures, reducing the risk of unwanted chemical reactions . Additionally, dry screw vacuum technology, which does not require operating fluids to compress process gases, is preferred in many chemical and pharmaceutical applications due to its efficiency and reduced risk of contamination .
Limitations
A limitation of these vacuum pumps is that the condensed process fluid can affect the vacuum capability and capacity of the pump. This fluid also generates a sealant that must be treated before disposal, adding complexity to the operation .
Considerations
When selecting chemical and corrosive gas vacuum pumps, it is crucial to consider material compatibility to prevent wear or corrosion and ensure safe operation . The initial costs, operating expenses, and maintenance requirements should also be evaluated.
