Overview

Resource Leveling is a function in P3 that allows you to optimize the use of resources by delaying activities and adjusting resources to reduce the peaks in the histograms. Using this feature may extend the length of a project.

Your ability to understand how P3 operates is important if you are to utilize these options with confidence in larger schedules. You should, therefore, practice with a simple schedule to understand the complex issues of these options before leveling a complex schedule.

Leveling will require the operator to have a very good understanding of how P3 operates and novice users should use this function with caution. Leveling requires a different approach when constructing the schedule and requires the user to have a solid understanding on how P3 resources work before attempting to use this function.

When the Project Group environment is being utilized, there is an option to prevent scheduling and leveling from the Project Level and only allow leveling from the Project Group. This option will prevent people who do not have access to the Project Group from scheduling or leveling the project.
