Sanitary / Hygienic Valves Control Valves
The fundamental objective of control valves is to control the flow of liquids, gases, or a combination of both. A basic control valve has an aperture that can be adjusted to increase or decrease the flow. Opening the aperture increases the flow and closing it decreases the flow. We need control valves because, in a majority of cases, an accurate amount of consistent flow is necessary for the piping system to determine the size of the piping, pump, and other accessories. In the absence of a proper flow control valve, the varying system pressure turns away from the design flow. Control valves have three major parts: the valve body, the positioner, and the valve actuator. The orifice size of the actuators keeps on changing to control fluid in a pipe. Control valves are divided into three categories based on their actuators. These three categories are pneumatic, electric, and other actuators. Diaphragm or piston-based actuators are known as pneumatic actuators. These actuators employ air supply from the controller and encompass different styles like direct acting, reverse acting, and reversible. Piston-based actuators utilize high-pressure plant air. Piston-based actuators have a double-acting style so that maximum force can be given in both directions. On the other hand, electric actuators utilize an electric motor and few forms of gear reduction to move the valve. The working principle of the sanitary valve is the same as the ordinary control valve. A sanitary control valve is a type of control valve that meets health standards. The body of the sanitary valve must meet the health requirements. All parts that touch the valve should be mirror polished and cleaned.
Control and on-off valves are used for different purposes and are selected based on the required degree of control. An on-off valve is way less accurate than a control valve. This is because an on-off valve either allows an uninterrupted flow or stops the flow completely. Control valves are typically used when greater control over the system is required, whereas an on-off valve is ideal for black and white situations.
