   Aerosol / Contact Cleaner       Aerosol cleaners and contact cleaners are dispensed as a fine droplet spray. Contact cleaners are widely used in mission-critical cleaning of electronic, electrical, and fiber optic connectors. 
   Abrasive Cleaner       Abrasive cleaners contain abrasive particles that mechanically enhance the cleaning process. 
   Bioremediation System       Bioremediation systems or cleaners contain active microorganisms as well as surfactants. Bioremediation is a natural, "green" cleaning process that uses microorganisms to convert oil, grease, or other organic waste in contaminated cleaning process water into environmentally harmless by-products. The surfactant constituents in the bioremediation cleaning system clean the parts, while the microorganisms or enzymes from the microbes digest and break down the removed oil or grease in the washing solution into benign water and carbon dioxide molecules. ATCC Class 1 microbes are chosen, which are harmless to humans. Specific microorganisms are chosen depending on the type of organic waste or contaminants to be broken down. Strongly caustic or high alkaline aqueous cleaners can be effective in removing grease and oil from parts, but these cleaners are very corrosive and special care must be taken to protect workers and equipment. Solvent-based cleaners are very effective in degreasing, but solvents can have low flash points and may require environmental permitting. Special care must be taken to protect against sparks or opens flame that could cause a fire or explosion of the solvent vapors. Permits may require that measures are taken to recover or minimize the released fugitive solvent vapors. Bioremediation cleaners provide several safety and environmental benefits over solvent or aqueous-based systems. These benefits include no VOCs, a non-flammable cleaning solution, and pH neutrality. They are also non-WHMIS controlled. 
   Defluxer / Flux Remover       Defluxers are used to remove soldering or brazing flux residues around brazed bonds and soldered joints on printed circuit boards, electronic devices, connectors, tubing, piping, and other assemblies. Defluxers are powerful cleaners that can be useful in removing grease, oils, ink, conformal coatings, sealants, gum, and adhesives. 
   Cleaner / Cleaning Agent       Industrial cleaners or cleaning chemicals can include acid cleaners, neutral cleaners, alkaline cleaners, abrasive cleaners, caustic cleaners, carbon or soot removers, degreasers, descalers, deoxidizers, desmutters, detergents, disinfectants, sanitizers, biocides, germicides, sporicides, strippers (removers for paint, coatings, photoresists, adhesives, sealants or other resin materials) rust removers, rinse aids, cleaning additives, and corrosion removing agents. 
   Degreaser       Degreasers or degreasing cleaners are used to remove oils, petroleum compounds, cutting fluids, grease, wax, and other oil or petroleum-based soils. Degreasing cleaning agents can be water, terpene, or solvent-based. 
   Descaler / Desmutter / Dioxidizer       Descalers, desmutters, deoxidizers, or mineral removers are designed to remove films or scales such as hard water deposits, urine scale, organic soils, and metal oxides. 
   Detergent / Surfactant       The additive, treatment, or cleaner consists of or contains a surfactant or detergent. 
   Disinfectant / Sanitizer       Biocides, germicides, sporicides, insecticides, pesticides, viricides, repellents, disinfectants and sanitizers can be effective against bacteria including TB (mycobacterium tuberculosis), viruses including HIV-1 (AIDS), fungi, spores, parasites, insects, and/or other organisms or micro-organisms. 
   Dusters / Canned Air       Dusters or canned air products are cans filled with a refrigerant propellant such as HFC-134a (1, 1, 1, 2 tetrafluoroethane) or HFC-152a.  HFC-152a has a lower global warming potential (GWP) than HFC-134a.  The term "canned air" is a misnomer because dusters do not use compressed air. 
   Etchant / Pickle       Etchants, pickles, or bright dips chemically attack surfaces for scale, oxidized metal layers, or damaged surface material removal. Bright dips are used to produce a bright surface on metals. Etchants are also used in photochemical machining and semiconductor manufacturing applications to selectively remove material layers to produce circuit patterns or complex parts. 
   Freeze Sprays / Circuit Chillers       Freeze sprays or circuit chillers are cans filled with a refrigerant propellant such as HFC-134a (1, 1, 1, 2 tetrafluoroethane) or HFC-152a. HFC-152a has a lower global warming potential (GWP) rating than HFC-134a. Freeze sprays are used to locate intermittent electronic components, cracks in circuit boards, cold solder joints, and oxidized connections. Defective resistors, capacitors, semiconductors and solder joints will run hot. Freeze sprays chill the circuit board to sub-zero temperatures, thus allowing testers to locate the defective or hot components. Freeze sprays may contain an anti-static agent and/or solvents. 
   Hand Cleaner / Soap       Cleaners, soaps, or cleaning agents are suitable for washing or cleaning the hands. 
   Pretreatment / Conditioner       Specialized chemical agents for the pre-treatment of surfaces include chemicals for conditioning, anodizing, or surface preparation.
