New Low-Profile, DIN-Rail Mountable, Modular Profibus Electrical Interface Allows Simple Modification Of Network Configuration
A new Profibus Electrical interface, designed for easily modified fiber optic Profibus links, has been introduced by Weed Fiber Optics of Round Rock, Texas.
Recently tested and certified by the Profibus Interface Center (PIC)—the only test lab sanctioned by the Profibus Trade Organization (PLY) for testing Profibus devices—the new 2C22 Profibus Electrical Interface Module complies with an Profibus-DP wire network standards and requirements. The module fully supports fiber optic transmissions of Profibus DP signals that use Weed Instrument EOTec 2000 optical systems.
The new module features a low-profile, DIN-Rail-mountable housing for easy compact system assembly. Because of the modular design, several 2C22 units can be combined to configure Point-to-Point, Daisy Chain, Star and Self-Healing ring network; topologies and provide redundancy. A maximum combination of five optical or electrical modules may be connected together in one modem. Integrated BUS connections allow inter-module communications for data and operating power.
Both SMA and ST connectors are supported by the 2C22 Profibus Electrical Interface Module, which features an extended industrial temperature range of –40 to 85 deg. C. The system also includes dual power supply capabilities with diagnostic fault outputs and LED Status Indicators for comms activity.
