PGC's 4.5 cubic foot Climate-Lab is a durable, high quality humidity/temperature chamber for scientists and engineers whose research, testing, or quality control applications require environmental simulation and control within extremely narrow tolerances. The 4.5 cubic foot Climate-Lab controls relative humidity very precisely by controlling the dew point of the air by use of a closely controlled water spray chamber. Conditioned air enters the chamber through the entire right side wall, travels across the chamber and exits throughout the left side wall to be reconditioned. Air travels up the left side plenum, and a portion of air enters the water spray chamber where it passes through a fine mist of water controlled to ±0.1ºC. Click here to view the specifications. Each water droplet is surrounded by a thin film of air which moves with the particle and is saturated with water vapor at the temperature of the droplet. Some of the water evaporates or is condensed at the droplet surface to maintain a thermal and vapor pressure equilibrium between the saturated layer and the water droplet. After the air passes through the water spray, it travels through a mist eliminator and across an electric heater to raise the temperature to the desired dry-bulb temperature. A rotary fan mixes and returns the air to the test chamber. Precise control of humidity and temperature is achieved by conditioning the air in the Climate-Lab before it enters the test chamber. This eliminates the main source of humidity and temperature differentials encountered in systems employing sprays, pans, heaters, atomizers, salt solutions, etc., within the test chamber.
